Janet Frame, author of The Goose Bath, was voted one of the top three woman writers of the last 50 years by readers in New Zealand in a new poll just released.

The poll places Frame behind Margaret Atwoood and Barbara Kingsolver, but ahead of Annie Proulx, Doris Lessing and Carol Shields.

The poll, organised by The Women’s Bookshop in Auckland, asked NZ readers to vote for their favourite 50 woman writers of the past 50 years. You can see the full listing here.

Frame’s posthumous The Goose Bath has been a consistent seller in Australia since its publication by Wilkins Farago in September 2008.
