Feast your eyes on the cover
Great see artwork from The Red Piano on the front cover of the Reader’s Feast Bookstore‘s Spring 2009 catalogue, and also a feature write-up from manager Mary Dalmau inside:
The telling of Zhu Xiao-Mei’s story in picture book form is reminiscent of Mao’s Last Dancer children’s edition and tells the story of one person’s courage with the combination of sparse, well-chosen language and sensitive, unforgettable illustrations.
Reader’s Feast is one of Melbourne’s largest bookstores and Mary’s got a great record of supporting independent publishing. On a recent visit, she told me the average time staff members have worked there is about ten years, so you can imagine what kind of experience there is on the shop floor. Thanks for the support, Mary.
